Discover 'mini-Switzerland' in India near Nanda Devi

Tourists visiting the Indian state, Uttarakhand, would be awestruck to find vast expanses of unspoilt natural beauty in a simple village called Chopta. It is also a base for trekking expeditions, which usually lead many people to Tungnath, one of the highest temples of Lord Shiva in the world. Nanda Devi Mountains

At an elevation of more than 2600 metres above sea level, Chopta has a very pleasant climate and is covered with lush green meadows during summers. Monsoon arrives in this region during the month of July and lasts till October. Snowfall can be witnessed during the period between November and March. It offers trekkers an opportunity to enjoy snow-treks in this region. Jolly Grant Airport provides convenient access for air travellers to Chopta. The railway station nearest to this region is Rishikesh. Road travellers can get to this place in Uttarakhand from major towns of the state with the help of buses and taxis.
